Early 18th Century Leather and Linnen French Wingchair
A early 18th century walnut French wingback armchair. This Louis XIV model is also known as Os de Mouton or 'Sheepclaw feet'. The shape of the feet were a provincial take on the gilded chairmodels made for Louis XIV in his personal baroquestyle.
This example is quite large but retains beautiful proportions. We reupholstered it with linenand patined leather on the wings and armrests. The wood is pegged and manually joined and turned by hand. It has a good patina and very solid.
