18th Century Renting Table

Rent tables like these were originally used by officials to recieve taxes in local taverns. The top can easily be removed from the base making it easy to take it from village to village. As this practice wqas common from mediavl times to the 19th century the tablemodel also became popular for general use. This one probably found its origine in a better of house as a side or centretable. This example has a great patina and lovely proportions. 99 x 120 x 78 h, Ref. 2000
