SOLD 17th century walnut leather armchair wingchair
SOLD This Italian 17th century wingchair was made from walnut and newly upholstered with 19th century linen and leather. From the 17th century on comfortable seating was becoming more available (even though the 18th century most of the people only had chruches and benches) and in demand. New forms were developed and a whole etiquette emerged around who sat where and when. This type of wingchair nevertheless was meant to relax for the open fire, possibly with a good book and a glass of chianti. And it is still perfect for that use today.
