19th century oak trestle refectory table
A rare and beautifully proportioned large trestle table from the Pyrinees. Refectory tables like these were made for centuries by rural craftsmen. This particular exemple was completely made by hand and two huge oak boards from the same tree were used. For oak to be so wide the tree itself had to be more than 100 years old.
This piece clearly has traces from centuries of use which give it a unique patina. Nevertheless it's verry sturdy and ready for everyday use.
