SOLD 19th century Walnut Refectory Console Table
A large 19th century Pyrinee console table. The beautifully patined one slab walnut top on colomn feet in the same wood. Tables like these were made for centuries in largely the same manner. Knowhow and sense for proportion was handed down for generations. Farmers harvested trees for exact purposes and used the wood the following winter for making whatever was necessary for themselves our their landowner.
Tables like these were often used to display the different courses of the meal in large houses and during the day as a ornated console. Because of its simple rustic form this example probably was maid for a local landlord in the rural Pyrinees.
