Jeanneret Easy Chair
A good authentic Chandigarh easy chair. Artisanally and locally made with pegged solid teak in the 1960s. This type is known as the cane and teak wood armchair/easy chair. The assymetric compass type legs are beautifully proportioned with the seat and back.
Previously restaured preserving their patina and sturdy enough for everyday use with new caning. The original lettering and numbering (referring to their place in one of the government buildings still present. All original screws and pegged troughout.
The way Jeanneret designed these chairs is a wonderful example of modernist ideas paired with craftmanship and classical proportions. Together with the amazing story of Chandigarh these iconic pieces are as much a conversation piece as artworks as utilitarian.
