Khmer Torso Cambodia
This 13th century Bayon period torso is a elegant example of the Khmer culture. This civilisation flourished between the 9th and 15th century in nowadays Cambodja. Probably the most famous Khmer site is Ankor Vat. Influenced by China, India and Boedhism they also incorporated existing South East Asian culture to create a particular art which still appeals today. Troughout it retains its sensual lines and has a beautiful patina. Including custom stand its 70 cm high. We acquired this piece on the German auction market in 2021.
