Organic tree root sculpture
A fantastic burl wood rootpiece. This root was probably salvaged when harvesting a beautiful tree to make furniture back in the 19th centuyr. As nothing was wasted this piece was used as a chopping block for cutting anything from branches over vegetables to spoils of hunting. The weathering of the wood, the grain, the cuttingmarks, ... all ad up to a unintended organic sculpture. One might say a 'objet trouvé'...
